Hilariously bad. No boy in 1983, age 12 or so, in middle school would EVER do a tap dance to a song like Suwanee River! He would be breakdancing to a song like Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' (MJ) or Rockit (Herbie Hancock). I mean, COME ON!!! LMAO!

This episode shows what promise this series should have had and the dramatic possibilities it entailed. The two families were very different, but were the same in they were the safety net it should be. The problems were different, but yet, they came together when the need arose, in this case, Scott running away, and Shelby coming to his aide. Well done, all!

This was a finely written show, with grade a performances by a sensational cast. Louanne was fantastic as the introspective Shelby Armstrong, and C. Thomas Howell was fantastic as Scott. Not to mention a pre-Growing Pains Kirk Cameron as the mischievous Eric. With a cast like that, it should have lasted longer than it did. Also the setting of Des Moines, Iowa was excellent and it could have well been used far more.

This show was a good one. A sad thing that it didn't last as long as it could have. The cast was outstanding, with very fine performances, and the premise was terrific. Not to mention that it was set in Iowa (presumably, given the pictures of the area, Des Moines, and suburban West Des Moines).

Simply the most beautiful patriotic song I have ever heard in my life,I honestly can't put my finger on it,but this song really puts a lump in my throat,if I had to guess as to why I would say as a veteran of war myself I just relate to those words where the song says the " the battle still echoes in his head and his old wounds come back to haunt him.
